As part of ongoing activities to protect Ohio River drinking water sources in the area, Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) will be conducting a dye study to better understand the flow dynamics in the river. This study will be done in cooperation with the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) and Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) and will provide valuable information and data, enabling these organizations to more effectively respond to spills or other contamination events in the river.
As part of the study, red dye will be introduced into the river three times over a 2-3-day period during the week of October 22. This will occur in the proximity of the Combs-Hehl Bridge and will likely turn portions of the river a tint of red downstream of the bridge.

The dye is harmless and will not affect the use of the river or the aquatic life. It SHOULD NOT be mistaken for a spill or contamination.
