Vibrant and efficient cities must have valuable services, quality housing stock, excellent schools, well connected transportation, recreation for all ages, be financial sustainable, and have functional downtowns. The Ludlow Renaissance Committee has been formed in an effort to help define and fund projects geared toward the preservation and improvement of Ludlow's central downtown business district. As required by the Renaissance on Main Program, the Committee has defined the area of focus to be along Elm Street from the railway overpass to Adela Street with additional focus on the historic commercial district along Ash Street. Also, the Ohio River has played an important role in the growth of Ludlow and there are many opportunities for development near the river that can help create an identity that is unique to a river town that such as ours. The Ludlow Renaissance Committee feels very strongly that exploration of initial development of the riverfront should be included within our work. The block of Adela Street from Elm Street to the river is also included in our area of focus. We will strive to make the "Ludlow Renaissance District" a vibrant and aesthetically pleasing downtown. Vision Statement: The Ludlow Renaissance Committee has been formed in an effort to help define and fund projects geared toward the preservation and improvement of Ludlow's downtown. The Committee pledges to build upon the collective efforts, wisdom and vision of its citizens, business owners, elected officials, community leaders and friends to create a safe, vibrant, and self-sustaining city. The Committee will draw upon Ludlow's rich heritage and opportunities to improve, develop and promote our city, while reflecting the integrity of its historical past, and creating a progressive and economically divers future. Renaissance on Main: Ludlow has recently been approved to be a Renaissance on Main City! What is a renaissance on main city? A Renaissance on Main city is one that initiates a program with a primary focus to spur economic development through job creation in the downtown communities. Certified Renaissance on Main cities are eligible for state funding to revitalize downtown areas. Committee Meetings: The Ludlow Renaissance Committee meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Ludlow City Building, currently located at 227 Elm Street in Ludlow, KY (KY Route 8). |
