City of Ludlow seeking Brownfields Hazardous Substances Cleanup Grant

The City of Ludlow is seeking a Brownfields Hazardous Substances Cleanup grant in the amount of $200,000 from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the former Barker Fine Colors building at 38 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY.

If awarded, the City will use grant funds to conduct cleanup of hazardous substances at the property.  It will also use grant funds to conduct public outreach and certify cleanup through the Kentucky Voluntary Environmental Remediation Program (VERP).

A public meeting regarding potential uses for the site will be held on November 8, 2012 at 6:45 p.m. and a second public meeting regarding the application will be held on November 12, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.; both meetings will be held at the Ludlow Municipal Center, Ed F. Schroeder Meeting Hall, 51 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.

A copy of the draft application will be available for public review and comment beginning on November 6, 2012, between the hours of 9am and 5pm at the City Clerk’s office, 51 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
